IPL 2022: Top 5 Players SRH can target in the Mega auctions

All the original eight franchises have submitted their retention list on November 30 ahead of the mega auctions. The tournament is ready to witness a big revamp this year. All the original franchises were limited to retain only four players for the upcoming season.

SRH retained their skipper Kane Williamson, Abdul Samad and pacer Umran Malik.

The orange army will be looking to add a lot of other players in the team and cover all of their departments.

Here’s have a look at five players SRH might target in the mega auctions.

1) T. Natarajan

The Tami Nadu based cricketer was selected in the Indian team after his stellar performance with SRH in the 2020 season of IPL. He gained the limelight when he removed AB De Villiers and knocked RCB out of the eliminator. But he was ruled out of the 2021 season of IPL in April due to an injury. He missed the second leg of the season due to Covid-19.

Natarajan is known for his ability to bowl pinpoint Yorkers specially in the death overs. SRH might go for the left arm seamer in the mega auctions.

2) Jason Roy

Roy debuted for SRH in the second leg of the 2021 edition of tournament when David Warner pulled himself out and made it clear that he would not play for the orange army anymore.

The Englishmen smashed a half century in his debut match against RR. Roy scored 60 off 42 deliveries. His innings comprised of 8 fours and a six. He played five matches in 2021 in which he scored 150 runs at a strike rate of 123.96.

3) Washington Sundar

Sunrisers Hyderabad had a lot of overseas spinning options including Mohammad Nabi, Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Ur Rahman. But the orange cap have retained neither of them.

On the other hand, RCB have gone without Washington Sundar ahead of the mega auctions.

Therefore, Sunrisers might go for the economical Indian spinner. Inspite of bowling most of his overs in the powerplay, Sundar still manages to main a low economy of 6.94.

4) Dinesh Kathik

Since the start of the IPL, Kathik has changed six teams so far. And we wouldn’t be surprised if the Indian wicket keeper batsmen changes his team once more.

Kathik who has 4046 runs to his name was not one of the four players retained by Kolkata Knight Riders. Earlier in 2020, Karthik himself decided to step down as the skipper of the team and handed over the duties to Eoin Morgan. But his performances haven’t been that great since then.

Kathik might be seen taking the gloves for SRH after they released Wriddhiman Saha ahead of the mega auctions.

5) Faf Du Plessis

A lot of teams will have their eyes for the former Proteas skipper Faf Du Plessis after he was released by CSK. SRH might be even more eager to acquire his services after releasing David Warner. The orange army are in search of a opener and there’s not a better candidate than Du Plessis for this position.

The 37-year-old was the second highest run getter in the league in 2021. He scored 633 runs in 14 games which comprises of 6 half centuries.
