The Ahmedabad franchise owned by CVC Capitals received the Letter of Intent (LOI) from BCCI on Monday. The team is set to announce a list of maximum three non-retained players before the mega auctions.
Since then, a lot of rumors have been floating in the net. Earlier it was rumored that Shreyas Iyer will lead the side. But recent developments suggest that Team India’s star all rounder Hardik Pandya will be named as the captain of the team.
Here is a list of three players likely to be drafted in the Ahmedabad team:
1) Hardik Pandya (15 crore) confirmed
If reports are to be believed, Hardik is the frontrunner to lead the Ahmedabad team. The all rounder has been an important asset for his team Mumbai Indians in the past. Hardik has shown stellar performance with the bat and the ball. But his recent form is a point of concern. Hardik was not seen bowling much in the recently concluded ICC event due to his shoulder injury.
After the end of the tournament, he asked the national selectors to keep him out of the national team for a while as he wants to work on his fitness. Hardik has been released by Mumbai Indians.
2) Rashid Khan (15 crore) confirmed
The Afghan based leg spinner is one of the best spinners in the cash rich league. The 23-year-old was released by SRH ahead of the mega auctions. Rashid Khan has picked up a total of 18 wickets last season at an average of 20.83.
Rashid has shown consistent performances each season and is a master in tricking the opposition players. The 23-year-old can also add valuable runs in the end at a career strike rate of about 137.03.
3) Subham Gill (7 crore) confirmed
Another Punjab player to be linked with the Ahmedabad franchise is the 22-year-old right hand batsman Shubham Gill. Shubham has shown his power hitting capabilities in the past, the most recent being his 43 balls 51 runs against CSK in Dubai IPL 2022 final match.
He was the leading run getter in KKR team. He scored 1417 runs in 58 games at a strike rate of 123. He scored ten fifties and his best score is 76.
